What do these people mean when they say, "Inspire"?

Last edited Thu Sep 13, 2018, 02:50 AM - Edit history (1)

We had a candidate with a progressive platform. This candidate also happened to be a woman. Having her elected would have been a historic event.

But these things weren't "Inspiring"

What do they mean when they say that? Really, I wish the next person who says they didn't find a candidate "inspiring" gets asked. "What do you exactly mean by that?

in the eternal search for more ratings, they've turned our elections into not much more than sporting events.

The stupid kids want their candidates to be like hucksters on TV hawking ShamWow. It's the ADHD genereation in need of another fix.

Frankly, Tina said it pretty well...

Instead we get reality TV shit with never ending conflict over meaningless crap while the oligarchs rob us blind.

The GOP can then rush in to poison the waters and disenfranchise citizens from having a say in how their own communities are governed. I would have a question for them. Were THOSE things inspiring?

“The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward .” ― Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You...

This inspires me, moving forward. Yesterday is past, tomorrow is but a dream, it is just this day that matters. imo

10. Are you serious? Hillary was an extremely popular Senator, who won by an even bogger margin for

her second term.

She fought like a warrior to fun healthcare for the heroes of 9/11, and has worked towards healcare reform since she was first lady.

You are way, way off in your assessment of her, and couldn't be more wrong.

"Been on the scene for decades, the wife of a former president, a Senator who hadn't challenged the power players and voted for the Iraq war, said openly that a better health care system would Never Happen, stuff like that. "

It sounds like you actually believe that.

15. Full quote on health care:
Thu Sep 13, 2018, 03:16 AM
Sep 2018

"I want you to understand why I am fighting so hard for the ACA," she said ... after hearing from a woman who spoke about her daughter receiving cancer treatment thanks to the health care law. "I don't want it repealed, I don't want us to be thrown back into terrible, terrible national debate. I don't want us to end up in gridlock. People can't wait for us to have a theoretical debate about some better idea that will never, ever, come to pass."

From "What Happened": "We reviewed the policy and how better to talk about the difference between Bernie's plan and mine. Chelsea had been right on the specifics that day: at that stage in the campaign, Bernie's health care plan called for starting over to get to single payer, which is what she said. But we both knew that wasn't going to matter at that point. We returned to basics: why my plan to improve the Affordable Care Act and add a public option was the right one to get to universal coverage. ... (We recently shared a smile and a sigh when we heard Bernie called for improving for Affordable Care Act immediately by embracing the approach that I proposed as a candidate: a public option in fifty states and lowering the Medicare age to fifty-five.)"

Shanny, you know very well Hillary did not say that single payer would never ever happen.

It is very individual because at its core it is an individualistic and fairly selfish way of thinking. A product of an overindulgent society that is looking to be inspired from the outside rather than looking for their own intrinsic motivation and a sense of civic duty.
