Mailer linking Nixon to anti-Semitism was approved by top Cuomo aides

New York Post:

The slimy mailer that sought to link Cynthia Nixon to anti-Semitism was drafted and approved by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s closest advisers, including former top aide Larry Schwartz, sources told The Post Wednesday.

The revelations come five days since the mailer — paid by the state Democratic Party — hit 7,000 mailboxes in Jewish neighborhoods.

Cuomo has adamantly denied he had anything to do with the smear.

But sources said one of his longtime confidants was deeply involved.

Which why I voted against Cuomo and the entire NYS Democratic Party-endorsed slate. There was no way a "rogue" operative commissioned, approved, printed and mailed this without the Cuomo campaign knowing.

"New York State Democratic committee executive Geoff Berman said the party would 'work with the Nixon campaign to send out a mailing of their choosing to the same universe of people.'"

Hopefully some good will come out of this primary battle. Not least, hopefully the Democrats win the state senate majority with a united caucus determined to implement progressive policy. It has struck me as so odd that Republicans have maintained such control over the New York state senate. The gerrymander that enables this is ridiculous, with underpopulated Republican districts. Hopefully there are good districts for 2022.

The 2012 redistricting was carried out by agreement with the Republican Senate Leader (now convicted for corruption) and the Democratic Assembly Leader (now convicted for corruption) and Governor Cuomo. It set up generally non-partisan Congressional lines, while allowing the Senate and Assembly to gerrymander their own districts.
