And this illustrates just what we're dealing with.

Robert Costa

@costareports
Spoke to more than a dozen House Rs here at the Capitol. Very few had any criticism of the president's handling of the coming storm or his tweets on P.R. Most offered hearty praise. A revealing snapshot of the GOP.

They'll stick with Trump and ignore American citizens if they think it will benefit them politically.

Shameless!!!

The Republican Party is completely bankrupt, ethically-speaking.

1. Do you realize that Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States, not a foreign country?
1a. For bonus points, how many US territories are there? Answer: 16
1b. For more bonus points, can you name the five largest? Answer: American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands
2. Do you know how many people speak Spanish at home in the United States? Answer: More than 38 million. And more than 64 million speak a language other than English at home in the US.
3. Is it acceptable for the people of Puerto Rico to have been without power for almost one year? Would that be acceptable if your constituents were affected in the same way?
4. Please let us know how you felt - as an American and as a human being - when Trump threw paper towels during his press photo op in Puerto Rico?
5. Do you know how many Puerto Ricans live in the continental US? Answer: Around 5 million. Did you know that 27 U.S. states have a population under 5 million?
6. And, finally, please let us know your attitude toward Puerto Ricans.

What a load of treasonous, craven motherfuckers.

The Republicans have painted themselves into a corner and now they are forced to be all in with Trump. If they defect, then they admit that their policies and agenda are wrong because make no mistake about this, Trump's policies are the extreme end of Republican ideology in a straight line from at least Nixon's administration. They have enjoyed a lengthy period of time being a minority party with out sized control over both National and State governments, but they do not have the actual numbers to continue to sustain it unless they make fundamental changes to the political and governmental systems of the US. They cannot operate except in a bloc.
