(37,648 posts)Imagine if we'd had live cams for all sorts of historical events. The Civil War, prior disasters, Galveston fire, etc.

(6,115 posts)Actors in costume recreated the events while current CBS reporters interviewed the participants. It was weird, but I learned a lot of history from it. I think some episodes from the mid 1950s are available. Not sure about those from the early 1970s.

(11,916 posts)Also, the Hatteras/Ocracoke Ferry Docks in Ocracoke are taking a beating. Wouldn't be surprised is the traffic circle needs to be replaced, possibly the bathrooms as well.
Rodanthe saw some waves registering at 22'. Avon and Nags Head surf reports topped out at 18' for now.
