Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing adult-film star Stormy Daniels in her case against President Trump and his former lawyer Michael Cohen, argues in a new op-ed that Trump could be indicted, despite a longstanding Justice Department policy.
The fact that Mr. Trump is a sitting president should not derail a process that applies to all Americans, regardless of stature or station. He would still have the post-indictment relief available to all citizens, including the ability to challenge the constitutionality of the indictment, Avenatti wrote in an op-ed published Thursday by The New York Times.

Should Mr. Trump be indicted and in the event that the case reaches the Supreme Court, Judge Kavanaughs recusal should be mandatory. The American publics view of impartiality of the rule of law and of the Supreme Court hangs in the balance, Avenatti wrote. - The Hill

(3,321 posts)he can be indicted.
He can also be subpoenaed.
He can also be impeached in the house and convicted in the senate.
It takes political will and a desire to survive as a nation.
Let's see what kind of political will we have as a nation.
Let's see just how badly we want to survive.
I'm going to fight like hell and hope for the best.

(5,477 posts)The current Repuke party is neck-deep in treason with the Russians.
They will no more participate in an impeachment than they would stick screwdrivers in their eyes.
They, the ENTIRE REPUKE PARTY, are guilty of TREASON against AMERICA.
They want the Russian money and the SILENCE of the Russians vis a vie KOMPROMAT.
I hope they are satisfied their tax cuts were worth it...the DESTRUCTION of AMERICA.

(100,081 posts)It gives them precedent to do the same in the future. As horrible as everything is right now, I hate to play devil's advocate, we're probably better off *NOT* seeking charges against Trump at this point in time. Yes, by all means he should be prosecuted for his crimes. But the question I have is when? Any time we attempt this it would be political suicide. We're better off letting the Mueller investigation play out, and we're better off letting Trump stir in his own juices than we are throwing the book at him.
