GOP House Candidate Mark Green Rejected Medicaid Expansion So People Would Find God

Why did Republican State Sen. Mark Green of Tennessee oppose his state’s plan to expand Medicaid and provide health insurance for low-income residents using federal dollars?

According to video posted by Justin Kanew, his Democratic opponent in a U.S. House race, it’s because Green felt it would distract people from finding God. The clip comes from a speech Green made in 2015 and was part of the reason he withdrew his own nomination to be Donald Trump‘s Army secretary before his confirmation hearings. He didn’t want to be known publicly for what he thought he was saying to religious people privately.

… every person who came to Christ came to Christ with a physical need… People go to God because of a physical need and they walk away with a spiritual need met. That’s the story of the Gospels. And so government has stepped in, at least in this country, and done all the work for the church. And so the person who’s in need — they look to the government for the answer. Not God. And I think, in that way, government has done an injustice that’s even bigger than just the entitlement — creation of an entitlement welfare state. I think it’s even bigger. And in this setting, I’ll share the story… I think it interrupts the opportunity for people to come to a saving knowledge of who God is.

That man is a religious extremist and psychopath, who wants Americans to suffer because of his beliefs. He must be defeated. He is a danger to Americans.

Push people to their breaking points, then go proselytize them. Many do tend to be more receptive when their lives are falling apart.

Taking advantage of that is pretty damned low. Taking steps to facilitate the downfall is unconscionable.

Is that is is still dependence on PEOPLE not on God. Sorry but Manna is not raining down from heaven anymore. Green stated clearly that his problem was that "government" is taking the place of church. Church is not God, church is people who believe in a particular interpretation in a particular book, interpreted by a particular founder, practiced in a particular way by particular people. That is what Green is talking about. Muslims believe in the same God that Christians do, but you go and tell Green that we should allow Muslims to be the primary distributor of resources to the poor and needy and he will blow a gasket. No, Green doesn't care about God, he cares that his sect of followers have been cut out of the social and economic dominance game as a way to push their agenda to less fortunate people.

That is their only concern about universal health care, they just view anyone outside of their immediate circles as surplus population that they would be very happy to see slaughtered or left to die...

And taking away their access to health care is not going to help them do it.

He is just bullshitting. He wants to win with the rich by destroying government programs, and with with religious people with the crap about "finding God." Plenty who need the coverage will lap it up and ask for seconds, no doubt.

The wealthy have all kinds of needs met by virtue of all that money. How, oh how, will they ever find God??? Mark Green should make sure the tax code is reformed so that the wealthy have the best chance of finding God. Or doesn't Geen care about the immortal souls of the wealthy?

Benny Hinn

Why are the faith 'healers' in stadiums and television instead of going from hospital to hospital curing//healing people?

1. Because those venues are far more profitable.

2. Because hospitals can check the results.
