Cynthia Nixon's team blaming extremely high turnout for Cuomo's victory

No, this is not from The Onion.

Tweet from HuffPo reporter Zach Carter, but I've seen it posted by other journalists. Nixon team's message in the image:

Nixon team also saying the uncomfortable truth for a lot of lefty candidates tonight. High turnout likely means effective machine politics. Low turnout in the AOC Crowley race worked to AOC's advantage.

in caucuses, which benefit a different kind of candidate because of substantially lower turnout than primaries.

Two years ago we only had 4.5% turnout in our caucuses. Primaries make it possible for many more to vote.

Good for New York, encouraging everyone to vote!

The score on Democratic presidential caucuses this nomination season could hardly be more lopsided: Barack Obama 11, Hillary Rodham Clinton 2, New Mexico pending. And a lot of those Obama wins were landslides.

Political analysts say passion and organization are key to caucus wins and Obama has them in greater measure. "He's got both an army of campaign workers and an operatic presentation" that excites people, says Lawrence Jacobs, director of the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance at the University of Minnesota. "It's a very potent, very unusual combination."

It holds its state primaries in September, in the midterm federal election year. (NYC holds its primaries/election in the year between the presidential election and midterms. The primaries are also in September.)

I've already voted 3 times this year, since we had a special election in my election district earlier.

And not a good thing for Dems to wish for. High turnout is in our best interests as it means we're getting the vote out.

If Nixon wants a new career in politics, let her run for city council. Then mayor, state legislature, etc., etc. You know, the same way that people who actually know what they're doing do it.

High turnout is good. In this case it's amazing given it was a primary vote not the actual midterm. Cynthia Nixon needs to suck it up. Sometimes you lose.
