the saviour of a weak ticket. The Freeper/Teabaggers hate Romney. Ryan is the spoon full of sugar that makes the medicine go down.
The problem is the more they cheer Ryan the more Romney is going to look like a weak also ran in the Presidential debate just like McCain vs Obama.
The other problem is that they don't have a southern evangelical on the ticket. Even Bush was able to fake being an evangelical. A Mormon and a Catholic can't even attempt to masquerade as born againers.

(15,189 posts)Does he defend the pedophiles and the higher ups that protect them, including the Pope. If it was some Muslim congregation with all the pedophiles, we would hear about it all day, and the worries behind it. Was Ryan a fan of Penn State? LOL!

(7,675 posts)that his Catholicism would not effect how he governed. This was to placate the Dixie Democrats who were racist and anti catholic. It worked sorta. The evangelicals fled to Nixon after Lyndon Johnson and have been Republicans ever since.
How are southern Baptists going to swallow a Mormon/Catholic ticket anymore than they would support a Jewish/Scientology ticket. I think the fundies are going to sit this one out in large numbers.

(36,437 posts)I'm amazed by the rabid anti-abortion Catholics also yelling for every murderers blood. The death penalty is as bad in Catholic doctrine as abortion, and for the same damn reason.

He wants to privatize Medicare - that will be his undoing in Florida and we win!

(7,675 posts)word intellectual regarding these two. What I'm saying is that in terms of campaign dynamics and the expectations or RW voters they are playing the same role, lifting a failing candidate.

(19,458 posts)except for Cheney, of course. Do people actually vote for the VP? Romney looks to be in good health, not terribly old.
