about how great it was when we had strong unions and all the "free" stuff everyone got. I like Moore, but I hate hearing that. The benefits were never free, and he probably really knows that. Single payer health care wouldn't be free, we all know that. So stop calling it free! That plays right into the white wingers hands.

(1,907 posts)and serves as an arbitrator in work issues. The union also backs safety rules, OSHA. In the early days the unions fought and died for every paid holiday workers get, sick leave, 8 hour work days, overtime pay beyond the 40 hr work week, education and well trained staff, and any other right people have as workers. No, it is not free. But without good unions most workers would be at the will of their employer with no rights whatsoever.
