Why Republicans fail to defend our democracy?

The most shocking and disturbing fact from the Trump era is the failure of Republicans to protect and defend our democracy and our Constitution.

Perhaps it started when their Party decided that Donald Trump did not have to show his tax returns or his business interests in order to run for President? So long as they could gain power, it didn't really matter how they did it?

Now the voters are faced with a stark reality. Will they continue to vote for a Party that is a threat to us all? Will they vote for a Party that has shown itself to be incapable of standing up to an authoritarian Executive Branch? Will they continue to vote for a Party that has sold our country down the river?

It is a sad chapter in our nation's history. A once-great political Party has become a threat to our nation's existence. Historians will spend many years attempting to explain how this happened?

By infiltration of both the Democrats and the Republicans which one had the most to use to blackmail them from their corruption , and personal illegal or other matters they could use to promote their agenda with , and republicans had a lot more , and got caught by putin, and he's now using it against them , and trump. the kgop have brought this onto themselves , and the American people now know it too. The kgop are so corrupt they'll be running from this, and trump, and others like him forever.

Are throwbacks to the old Southern Democrats who left the party to become Republicansdurng the Civil Rights fight. They long for those days.

Trump is their hate filled vessel.

I wouldn't trust the KGOP with my wallet, that's for sure.

This is the so called ultra Americanism party, that no one could possibly be too American enough for this party! And, by golly, you better not owe a dime to anyone! Debt is nasty, wrong, and we need to get it paid off immediately if we have any debt!!! Also kneeling is wrong too!! If you kneel, then you should have your knees shot off or worse, lose your job. No first amendment rights for you!

And these people call themselves a party? Yeah, right...I think I'm pretty happy w/ what we have with the democratic party, hands down. Sure we may have a few bugs to work out, but who doesn't?

and it is compounded by the fact that those elected leaders of "that" party are ignoring law and duty by continuing to support IQ45 instead of the Constitution of the United States and the will of the electorate.
While IQ45 will someday be gone (not soon enough, for sure!) those that enabled and supported him must never be forgotten or allowed to continue to "serve."

GET OUT THE VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!

They want autocratic rule. They are living their wet dream right now, and they don't want to wake up.

go about undoing 100 yrs of progressivism, giving away public assets (timber, mineral rights etc.) and tax giveaways to their cronies.. Kinda like those movies where robbers work in pairs - one creates a diversion to distract the store clerk,w hile the others make off with the loot.

Theres always been neo-nazis, John Birchers, kkk, conspiracy nuts, fringey characters of all types - whats different now is that a major party is not only allowing but enabling them.
