Florence weakens to tropical depression, but continues to dump heavy rains on the Carolinas, leading to risk of landslides
The National Weather Service warned of a catastrophic, life-threatening flash flooding risk in much of North Carolina, northern South Carolina, and southwest Virginia Sunday.
Although record-level rains and flooding are expected to ease along the North Carolina coast through Sunday night, more serious flooding is predicted to spread farther inland.
