PayPal co-founder and venture capitalist Peter Thiel doesn't believe Silicon Valley is as liberal as people think it is, but one would never know it due to a left wing "conformity problem" caused by higher education.
When asked where this conformity problem comes from, Thiel stated that it comes from institutions of higher education in America.
"Part of it is it's probably the most educated part of the country in terms of how much time people spent in college," he said. "I think one of the downsides of too much education is that you get the most brainwashed."
Thiel raised his national profile during the 2016 elections by publicly supporting then-candidate Donald Trump, and even gave a speech at the 2016 Republican Convention.

(10,014 posts)In Thiel's case the result of too much higher education, and several degrees from Stanford, is that his educational experience is about as limited as that of Betsy DeVos. Learning a valuable skill or attaining knowledge that may cure cancer just isn't that important to Thiel because he likes his brain-washed people in the mode of faux-news, talk radio, and MAGA followers.
He may have an education but he's an ignorant and arrogant man.

(9,696 posts)I've talked to people who went to college and decided that religion or their parents political leanings weren't for them. Critical thinking, plus being exposed to many people from various backgrounds was what changed their point of view.
Most colleges are the opposite of brainwashing, which is why religious people either go to religious colleges, or band tightly together on secular campuses. Critical thinking is dangerous to their belief system.
thiel is an idiot, this is just more confirmation as to why repubs (and now apparently libertarians) are opposed to free public and higher education. Makes the masses that much less easier to manage.
