(90,769 posts)as those cute things old ladies say and do.
It's terribly insulting. And when you tell the young'uns to fuck off, they just laugh harder.

(60,074 posts)I just mutter something then give a knowing wink. They think I am talking dirty. Credit without the work.

(60,074 posts)They were wet from the rain and that didnt look too good. They were at the button stage. Tomorrow will be much better.

(8,380 posts)yours was my second choice. (I did vote for mine). I love hummingbirds. They are still swarming our feeders in Virginia. Hopefully they are waiting out Florence south of us.

(90,769 posts)I love landscapes. I'm in rural Louisiana and no matter what the locals say, it's not very picturesque. Even if it were, I'm not very practiced at getting them.
We still have lots of hummers right now. Though one morning very soon from now they will be mostly gone. We'll get stranglers from up north on their way down south, so I'll keep the feeders out until November. I get to see different species at that time.

(18,635 posts)...of a crystal clear river. I don't even fish but I want to be there. Not so much at Stormy Lake, but I like the dark. Solly's macros are always incredible. Had I attempted that shot it'd just be the bird's tail feathers as it was leaving.
Thanx for posting.

(18,635 posts)They look like something that would sting me into a coma like a giant bee. I seriously avoid them.
I lived with a cockatoo for 18 years until I gave him to a dear friend who lives far enough away that I'll never see him again. Not because I won't miss him, I just don't want to keep popping back into his life like a delinquent parent. He's living a better life now, and my hearing is beginning to return to normal, so we both win.
People ask how I can part with a pet I had for so many years, but I remind them my kids moved out after so many years too, and I still love them.

Somehow it works for us.
Hummers can and will bump into people. They've gotten my dogs a few times during a hummer battle. Beautiful but vicious.

(22,380 posts)Tickles me because my three favorites won. Thanks to all who keep entering and those who venture in to do it for a first time. Its fun and exciting and non-political so we have a visual and emotional break.
Joining late in the congratulations - having a time here in the middle of NC with the rains pounding us after destroying so much of our coast. My city is declared disaster, lots of flooding.
Power outages, mine is now back.
Lola being too prissy to pee in all this rain. My kitchen stove got fried and never came back on.
Could be so much worse, and is for many here, and horrible for the folks in Wilmington and environs.
