Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in the new afterward for her book "What Happened" writes that it is hard to ignore the "racial subtext of virtually everything [President] Trump says."
"Trump doesnt even try to pretend hes a president for all Americans," Clinton writes in excerpts published by The Atlantic on Sunday. "Its hard to ignore the racial subtext of virtually everything Trump says."
"Often, its not even subtext," she adds, noting Trump's comment widely denounced comment that Haitian and African immigrants are from s---hole countries."
"None of this is a mark of authenticity or a refreshing break from political correctness," Clinton writes. "Hate speech isnt 'telling it like it is.' Its just hate."
The former Secretary of State begins the afterward with a denouncement of the Trump administration's "zero-tolerance" immigration policy, which resulted in the separation of more than 2,000 migrant children from their parents at the Southern border.
Clinton notes data reported by The New York Times that indicates the administration continues to detain 12,800 children.

(10,721 posts)Trump is just more obvious. He knows that racism and sexism is all that's keeping the Republican Party alive/viable. What's amazing is that there are Democrats who don't realize that. As if right wing economic policy, right wing health care policy or right wing environmental policy has massive support. Absent racism and sexism, support for right wing policy would be insufficient. The GOP would cease to be viable.
