(7,888 posts)Did you add 4 points to what I have read? Not that it makes me feel better, just truth in reporting. What's your source?
oops, should have asked for CNN source, exit polls are just that, maybe they told the truth, maybe not

And keep in mind Trump's overall approval rating in that 2016 exit poll was 38%. He received vote support far above his approval rating. Depending on our nominee and how much he/she is mangled, the same thing could happen again.

(32,000 posts)You have to remember
Approx. 66% of all eligible voters voted in the 2016 election
Even if it was 50% men and 50% women
Half of 66% is 33%
How many of that 33% were white?
So in actuality the % of white women WHO VOTED who voted for the Asshole is much lower

(7,509 posts)Even if we didn't discount the white women who didn't voted, the fact of the matter is that most white women did NOT vote against the pussygrabber.

(7,395 posts)I've said a large chunk of his support comes from people who want to die but can't make the leap, so they do it in small ways that will unfortunately take a lot of people with them.
"Blow it all up" is a thing. And he was clearly that thing, let's face it. Everybody knew.

Driving through Everett (nearest big city to us) was horrible all day. 18,000 Trumpanzee's showed up for the grabber's rally. Capacity of Xfinity is 10,000 so 8000 were outside waiting!

(86 posts)I know a few and they called Hillary every name in the book-rhymed with witch and hated that she was ambitious and not lily white like Laura Bush who killed her boyfriend-cough. They still don't feel they did anything wrong by voting for him and justify themselves by thinking he was the best of a bad lot.
Oh and most hated Obama too.

(20,687 posts)There are annual studies showing a bell curve around 20-25% of people are just too insecure to hem and haw in an unregulated world: They'd sooner be on the receiving end of authoritarian power than drifting around unconfined. That's the basic paradigm of conservatism: "I'm still shaky: somebody take charge, please."
Obama was inspirational but didn't give them enough empty promises of parental reassurance: He asked them to think in the grey, complicated details of the adult world, and they are terrified of it.
Add to that the racism and resentment, and frump was in the right place at the right time. People were scared by the near financial collapse. Now they're scared of growing ethnicity and world instability. These people also aren't coping with the 24/7 news cycle from all over the world. Now, you get live video of riots anywhere, and so they're feeling bombarded by fear and dread: THey can't keep the perspective that the news stations are just getting rich off of every little hangnail that happens. It's a big world, and every ditch collapse or downed plane feels like their own existance is threatened.
Add to that the smart women who didn't vote, and voila: chaos moves in.And it's a gangster with yellow hair and lots of harlots.
