(13,390 posts)And I think the men who piled on were trying to protect themselves. As we now know devaluing and even assaulting women does not instantly disqualify someone from candidacy in the minds of millions of voters.

(314 posts)I watched the hearings. This is exactly the way she was treated. They demanded that to explain her case, she use graphic language that she didn't want to use. I believed her so much at the time. I want this to be re-opened and for a real hearing to be heard. There were more witnesses than were allowed to testify.

(32,641 posts)I also remember that Joe Biden didn't do Anita any favors. He just sort of piled on with the rest of the privileged white guys. I believe he has acknowledged and apologized for it, but that doesn't get Clarence Thomas off the bench, does it?

(16,389 posts)I get that Biden hate is en vogue here in some circles, but I think it's important to judge people from the big picture view. Joe's done a lot of positive things in his career. Also, I can't help but note Biden isn't pictured in the cartoon. If he was as much of a monster as some here make him out to be, you'd think it would show up more in the media from that time.

(2,437 posts)She showed so much poise and class despite it all. Not only was a good, truthful woman unjustly discredited but we got a monster like Clarence Thomas as a result.

(6,831 posts)Thurgood Marshall, that's who. It was an affront I have never accepted.
Justice Marshall was a giant among men. Thomas ? Not fit to wipe the bottom of Marshall's shoes, let alone EVER fill them.

(1,292 posts)Because the book has a passage about pubic hair on a coke can, so he claimed that that proved that Anita Hill got that story there and was making the whole thing up. Of course, Clarence Thomas could have gotten the idea from the Exorcist just as easily and Hatch had no point at all. I think that was some of the most shameless grandstanding I have ever seen.
