It would have changed my life
I was in college and knew another student who was raped by a fraternity guy. He received no punishment from the college or his fraternity. I would not have received any support from the school either.

I'll never forget it. Somehow I managed to push the door open and run when I saw the group of guys inside the room my "friend" led me to.

And drugged and raped at my home 10 years ago.
Sexually assaulted by my boss at work two years ago.


Edit to add an attempt when I was a teenager.

I had helped her get ready for the date. She was excited and flattered to be asked out by an upper classman. After the date, in her room, he forced himself on her while his friends hooted and hollered outside. She was devastated. I felt guilty for helping her get dressed up.

In some fashion. Man or woman, boy or girl. Either you have had this happen to you, or you love someone who's had it happen to them, and they STILL deal with it.

To be honest, I think the idea of "boys only" high schools and colleges foments this. I went to a coed college with a coed dorm, and the guys in the dorm were almost naturally protective of our female dormmates . I know that sounds sexist as hell, but that's how it worked.

I was stone cold sober, when I had 3 guys grab me and throw me into a bedroom while I was waiting to use the bathroom. I was terrified, but I fought like hell. I told them my Dad had friends who would make sure they never saw a degree in their lives and jail was a given, not totally true but they were rich boys whose brains started to work at that moment. They let go of me and I ran out of the house in tears. I still think about it, nothing makes that go away. No I was not raped, but that is clearly what they had in mind, calling it a "Sigma train". I hate frats and people who join them to this day.

I hate "frat culture", too, with a burning passion. I think it generates that kind of behavior.

One date rape, drugged.

Another close call where a guy tried to grab me while I was out for a run.

Never let your guard down, and fight like hell.

Believe victims.

Sexual assaults - 7 that I can name in less than 30 seconds. Likely there are more.
Sexually motivated verbal harassment - more than I could possibly count.

I'm always amazed when I encounter a woman who has never experienced any unwanted physical contact of a sexual nature.
