Okay, silly and naive question, and forget the politics. Why would this message have to come from the president? Why not just from the emergency management agency itself?

(1,923 posts)Not everyone listens to the radio or watches network TV anymore. Particularly among the younger generations who primarily stream music and TV from apps like iTunes or pandora, or Netflix and hulu. Most everyone now has a cellphone on them these days though.

(5,914 posts)I still don't know why it has to come from the President. I have a weather radio that sounds an alert when a tornado is on its way, and those warnings don't come from the White House.
