When I was younger, thinking about going to college sometimes gave me a pit in my stomach. I came from a working-class family. I was young, black, and female. Of course I doubted myself. But I didn’t let those fears win. #BetterMakeRoom

“a feeling (or an ache) in the pit of my stomach”. Apparently this has transmuted into “ a pit in my stomach”, which seems to make sense in its own way. But, et tu Michelle?
