(82,849 posts)Senate Democrats holding a press conference, and the media actually giving it coverage! What a concept.

(42,862 posts)All I'm saying is that most smart Democrats (and our Democratic leaders) know that it really serves no good purpose to overreact and get hyperdramatic for EVERY little thing. Such theatrics only make the REAL important stuff seem more or less routine. Nobody want's to be known as a "Chicken Little" screaming that the sky is falling. Nobody wants to get a reputation for crying "wolf!" just to get attention.
I'm very pleased with nearly ALL of our party's leadership, and it just makes me sick whenever I continually see posts that accuse Democrats of "doing nothing" or "saying nothing" or "being lazy" or "being feeble" blah blah blah, etc etc etc.

(42,862 posts)Division and suspicion cause weakness. Weakness benefits the GOP and (by default) it also benefits Russia. All I'm saying is that I do not understand why people continue to intentionally and knowingly do things that benefit our enemies. (And then they BRAG about it... as if their purity is more important that the threats and challenges that face us as a party and as a nation. But hey... at least they have their pride, eh? At least they "sent a message", right? It must be nice to be able to take comfort in such luxury when everyone else is starving or dying.)
The politics of vanity do not benefit us as a party or as a nation. It only benefits the vain. (I'm looking at YOU, Susan Sarandon... and others who shall remain nameless for obvious reasons.)

The Quiet Rage Of Mazie Hirono
snip//
Mazie Hirono used to be known as the "good girl" of Hawaii politics.
She was seen as polite, never in-your-face, not a boat-rocker. But now, that view has changed.
As one Hawaii columnist put it, she is a "badass."
"I always was," Hirono said in an interview with NPR. "I just wasn't very noisy about it. I've been a fighter all my life. I just don't look like that."
