When the Republicans did their document dump just before Kavanaugh's hearing, marking substantial portions of Judge Kavanaugh's record as committee confidential, Chairman Grassley ruled all motions for a closed or executive session out of order, and refused even to consider a closed session so that Judge Kavanaugh could be asked about those matters. So we got the spectacle of committee Democrats nibbling around the edges of important matters without engaging Kavanaugh directly on matters that had been unilaterally classified by the Republicans.

Now they'd like a closed hearing for Dr. Ford? Go suck a lemon, boys. There shouldn't be anything classified about rape.

The Judiciary Committee didn't even decide to have open hearings until Monday afternoon. Dr Ford's lawyer was not in the office then.

Just a few hours ago, the Judiciary Committee postponed its Thursday scheduled vote on forwarding Kavanaugh's nomination to the full Senate.

But Grassley wants Dr Ford's answer right away despite no agreement with Dems or time or schedule being yet set.
