Trump Lied Again: The FBI Never Told Him or Anyone at the White House They Didn’t Want to Investigate Kavanaugh

Surprise. President Trump lied again.

Earlier today, Trump claimed that the FBI told him they didn’t want to be involved in investigating allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

Trump told reporters today at the White House, “I don’t think the FBI really need to be involved because they don’t want to be involved. If they wanted to be, I would certainly do that, but as you know, they say this is not really their thing.””

That didn’t make sense, since that’s the FBI‘s job and they would do it if asked by Trump or anyone at the White House, which fact we noted at the time.

What Trump meant, of course, was that Trump did not want them to investigate.

And the fact checks came rolling in.

A. This a normal thing to do, as we noted: “Contrary to Trump’s claim, the FBI certainly would do a background investigation if asked by the White House or other agencies, but they have to be asked to do it. Trump and Republicans have not asked them.”

And B: The FBI now says they never told Trump or anyone at the White House this. Bloomberg News reported that the FBI did not tell Trump or anyone at the White House that the bureau doesn’t want to be involved in an investigation of allegations against Kavanaugh.

Trump says what he wants things to be, not what they are. He might not know the difference. The reality is the FBI routinely investigates the backgrounds of nominees, but they must be asked to do so.

He lies constantly about everything...he is a worthless POS and the sooner he is removed from office, the better chance we have at saving the existing form of the United States, because it does not look good if he stays beyond 2020 or if the GOP stays in total control beyond November...

do your duty to country. Or for that matter, since Jeff Sessions is being attacked again, rump cabinet ... do your duty to country. If not, then charges of treason should suffice, wouldn't you say? I don't recall the slogan party over country ever being a valid point w/ anyone, democrats or republicans in the past. What's happen is that republicans are deliberately holding the country hostage to a foreign power who aided and abetted this illegally elected president.

In reporting that preposterous statement that the FBI didn't want to get involved, did anyone really say, "This isn't true; it couldn't possibly be true. The President is talking through his hat."

Fast forward to the 4:45 mark, for the following dialog:

He then recalled a time when he finally called Trump out on his claim that he had the best ratings. Bush informed Trump that “you haven’t been number one for like five years, four years. Not in any category. Not in any [demographic].”

Trump allegedly cited the last five minutes of the show for those over 35-years-old, pointed to Bush and claimed “I told ya.”

“And then later when the cameras are off, he says, ‘Billy, look, you just tell them, and they’ll believe it. Just tell them and they believe it. They just do,'” Bush recalled.
