In a now-deleted tweet, a woman named Cristina King Miranda, responding to actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus regarding the letter circulated by alumnae of the Holton Arms school in Maryland, says she remembers Christine Blasey Ford, knew both Brett Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, and that the incident was spoken about for days afterwords [sic] in school:
"Cristina King, 1983" did sign the Christine Blasey Ford support letter. https://t.co/EAAF7I1vos https://t.co/41dE3xieTL

It may have been deleted because Ford has clearly said that she told nobody at the time. A claim that the story was all over the school for days later would contradict her. On balance... I'm not sure whether it would help or hurt.

(4,341 posts)Because the filth he brings to the supreme court is more important to republicans than the information that is coming out about his character. As a matter of fact, the reason republicans like this guy so much is because of his character, he is trash, just like the man-child and republicans in congress and senate.
This situation is getting out of hand, and I don't mean Kavanaugh, the government, if Muller doesn't do something fast and powerful I fear we are all going down the drain with the swamp that is in government today.
I keep saying it, this is exactly what happened in Venezuela, things got out of hand and then anything was too little, too late, I feel the investigation is dragging longer than it should. I am also convinced (out of gut), that many of the republicans in congress, and some in the senate have been compromised, and that is why people like Gowdy are running from the mess.
I also keep saying that the military can be corrupted, I hope I am wrong, but if/when the military sides with a corrupt government you have a dictatorship backed with force, and it is at that time that anything will be too little, too late.

(7,530 posts)They played with the format and that season actually was *scary* for the first time in a while after they'd settled into "introduce 20 wacky characters in the first episode" mode. I missed the first episode of CULT last year so am waiting to binge it on Netflix, and I've got the first episode of ARMAGEDDON on the DVR waiting.
COVEN was *okay* - Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson saved it, FREAKSHOW and HOTEL each had good ideas but fell completely off the rails arc-story wise.

Even if the FBI did investigate and find damning evidence, the Republican position is that the FBI is a hotbed of deep state liberal activists run by Hillary Clinton and cannot be trusted.
And an investigation by the main stream media? Fake News!
The GOP is going to push this nomination forward regardless. They hold all the cards and if a single one of them had any integrity, it would have surfaced by now.

That's how these people think.
Even the wives in that social status think that way - that's one of the reasons successful GOP women are too often so vicious to others of their own sex when it appears those women fail.
The fear that it will happen to them - that because of the culture they were raised in, deep down, they actually believe they're disposable pets, political pawns in the networks of "great men".
No matter their talents, their own leadership roles in business or community, or how much they were loved by their family and friends growing up, they were - and are - still raised to think that their tradition demands their final rewards are determined on how they stand in their future husband's social position.
They're raised to be Princesses, not Queens. Wives, not Women.

These 2 schools are elite but based on wealth and parental influence. Intelligence is not a major consideration. Yeah they all pretend it is all about the kid being special. But prep schools are really there to help rich people's children get into high end colleges and make it through.
Yes, kids coming out of prep schools are smart but only because they have been given so much opportunity.

(16,887 posts)I didn't go to Holton Arms - I went to BCC (Bethesda Chevy-Chase), a public high school. But I had many friends at Holton Arms and my family belonged to Columbia Country Club and we had a beach house in Rehobeth Beach. I knew many people who went to both Holton Arms and Georgetown Prep and went to parties where there would be kids from all these schools and the scary thing is - probably have even crossed paths at some point with both Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and also Brett Kavanaugh at these parties. I am 51 and graduated in 1984 from HS.
I remember how much alcohol was consumed at these parties and the boys from Georgetown Prep hitting on the girls drunk at these parties or on beach weekends. I believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. I don't know if she told many people, but even if she didn't, I am willing to bet there are people who remember Brett Kavanaugh and Mark Judge and that it wasn't his first and only time being drunk or trying to assault a girl.
I am praying that this letter is real and that there are many many women who come forward in the coming days...

Take a look at what had happened to Dr. Ford. She and her entire family have been driven from their home into hiding to escape death threats. Meanwhile, the alleged perpetrators wife is sweetly baking cupcakes for reporters. The contrast couldnt be starker.

I knew the type as I attended an elite Catholic high school in the eighties. The boys were racist, sexist and creepy about women. Every time I see Kavanaugh I get flashbacks to the eighties. (1,036 posts)I am not saying dickhead did not do what he is accused of ...
However,
The school she went to is not some public HS with low paid teachers and shitty staff, it is a high end school. No one goes there that is not from money. If this was, "being talked about for days" in this kind of school there is no way the staff did not hear about it. If the staff heard about it there is no way the parents were not contacted. If the parents were contacted there is no way they did not talk to their daughter and ask WTF is going on?
You do not attempt to rape a rich families daughter and just skate ... you may walk from charges because you are richer, but no way in hell do you not get this recorded, somewhere. If it is true that "this was talked about for days" then the school's reputation is going to get slammed. I would imagine that is why it was pulled ... the staff from the school is still around, somewhere.
This would be a scandal that the school would have a very difficult time getting past. A prominent doctor that went to your school was attacked and it "was talked about for days" at your school ... why were no actions taken? Are girls safe at your school? Why should anyone spend $$$ to send their young woman there knowing the school will not protect her?
Something does not add up.
MountCleaners
(1,148 posts)All sorts of things went on that were quite intentionally not told to parents or school personnel. The idea being that it was a really conservative school, and the kids want to preserve that squeaky clean image. Kids at these schools are very conscious of their future as leaders and attendees of fancy colleges - future careers are everything and something like this can ruin a student's prospects. I'm very familiar with the culture. Kids acted one way in public and another way in private. These are young adults - they're quite calculated in what they do. Sexual abuse is part of the male bonding culture in these schools - but you don't want the grown-ups to find out, then your career is toast.
Lurker Deluxe
(1,036 posts)All sorts of things go on in every school that are kept from a lot of people. I knew about all sorts of things that went on and few people knew.
Attempted rape at a prestigious all girls school is not one of them. This is not a Catholic high school like you speak of, this is a 42K a year school ... you do not go there with "a lot of rich" ... you are rich. 160K+ to attend four years of high school is a chunk of change.
If it was widely talked about one of the "goody two shoes" says something to someone ...
Also, incident was reported to happen during the summer. Easy enough to check if there was a summer school, and who was there.
Twitter is now deleted.
Sexual abuse is not "the culture" at any school, damn sure not a high end all girls school, and if it were so why would anyone spend $$$ to send a young woman to such a school?
You may disagree with my statement, that is fine. To me it just does not add up.
Tipperary

(1,148 posts)Sexual abuse is certainly part of the culture at a lot of schools, especially sex segregated schools like this one. No one could send their daughter there because it was an all-male school. People in those cultures thought rape was funny back then. And yes, rapes were certainly not told to the "authorities" - parents and school officials. It was something that kids would keep to themselves. No one wants a bunch of priests or nuns talking to them about rape.
You don't tell parents because you don't want to shame the girl. Remember, this is the 1980s.
