Best books (so far) of the 21st Century

So saith a group of critics - ashamed to say I haven't read any of them. I used to devour books of any and all kinds , but have lost interest in reading books and now seem more content to read newspapers, articles, short essays, and so on. Guess it's the progression of age and a setting in of mental weariness.

Top novel to be read and recommended by the panel of critics - The Last Samurai (nothing to do with the Tom Cruise movie)
