China is ready to "go the distance" in any tariff-driven trade war with the United States, and ex-Secretary of State John Kerry has a one-word prediction of its consequences for the U.S. --: "Disastrous."
"It would result in a recession and possibly worse," Kerry said in an interview with Seattle P-I. The senator-turned-top-diplomat was in Seattle to discuss his new book "Every Day is Extra."
The secretary's remarks came on a day that President Trump was imposing $200 billion worth of new tariffs on Chinese goods, escalating the conflict with China begun by the 45th president. Handbags, rice and textiles are included in the latest round of taxes, which take effect Sept. 24th.
A trade war will not be concluded easily or painlessly, Kerry argued. Countries respond to higher tariffs by developing "different supply strains," said Kerry. They respond be taking their business elsewhere.
"You don't make that up quickly," Kerry added. "Take agricultural exports. They find new supplies. Again, you don't make that up quickly."

(America should NEVER forget the shame of what was the character assassination of Ambassador Kerry, Vice-President Gore, and Senator McCain. It should also be remembered that the Republican Party was responsible for ALL OF IT.)
