Texas is likely to have 2 Democratic US Senators after 2020.

Beto defeats Cruz this year- 2018.
One of the Castro twins challenges and defeats Cornyn in 2020.
The last time TX has 2 Democratic US Senators was in the 1950's when LBJ was in the US Senate.

September 18, 2018 - Cruz Has 9-Point Likely Voter Lead In Texas Senate Race, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds.

Republican incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz has a 54 - 45 percent likely voter lead over U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke, his Democratic challenger, in the Texas Senate race, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released today.

This is the first survey of likely voters in this race by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll, and can not be compared to earlier surveys of registered voters. Among Texas likely voters who choose a candidate, 93 percent say their mind is made up. That includes 94 percent of Cruz backers and 92 percent of O'Rourke backers.

Women are divided as 50 percent back Cruz and 48 percent back O'Rourke. Men back Cruz 57 - 42 percent. White voters back Cruz 66 - 32 percent. O'Rourke leads 97 - 3 percent among black voters and 54 - 45 percent among Hispanic voters.

Republicans back Cruz 94 - 6 percent, as Democrats go to O'Rourke 94 - 4 percent. Independent voters are divided with 51 percent for O'Rourke and 47 percent for Cruz.

Texas likely voters approve 53 - 44 percent of the job Cruz is doing and give him a 52 - 43 percent favorability rating.

O'Rourke gets a divided 43 - 42 percent favorability rating.

We are going to knock out two incumbents in Texas in back to back cycles.

Wow. A state with 44% conservatives. No problem.

People are getting a bit carried away with this tilt potential. Arizona is legitimately turning but Georgia is further away and Texas much further away.

Beto has a mild chance only due to a supreme candidate to candidate edge and in a heavy blue year

Now you are saying that Texas is going to have two Democratic senators.

Are you just rolling the dice and posting an OP based on the results? Focus on the 2018 election instead of 2020 or for goodness sake, 2024. Nobody has a crystal ball that tells us what could happen that far in the future and it seems pointless to speculate that far into the future. Thank you.

A hell of a lot of Abbott voters would have to vote for Beto or abstain from voting in the Senate race.

I would say about half of Republicans I know support Beto and my neighbor who's never voted for a democrat has a Beto sign and talking to all the other neighbors to support Beto. So don't give up on Texas. People hate Ted Cruz.

He was wearing a Beto shirt and I asked him if he was an independent or Democrat, and he said he normally votes Republican but he can’t stand this bunch that is in there now
