Trump and his puppeteers are accelerating the process. The far right's rise during the Obama years and the corruption under Bush II are earlier symptoms.

I increasingly fear this cannot be resolved peacefully, we are becoming two very different Americas, which are tragically conjoined preventing separation.

The GOP has been enacting a long-term scheme to completely change the fabric of our country and not in a good way. We are seeing their machinations come to fruition. Sadly, they have become a very real threat to the future of our democracy.

It started with Nixon's "southern strategy" and his shenanigans involving the war in Vietnam.

Every Republican administration has been progressively worse and worse, flouting laws and decency wherever they could get away with it, while getting away with more and more over the years.

We are now experiencing the endgame of this. We are finally reaching that place where it was always intended to go.

We all seriously need to turn off "infotainment" and wake the fuck up.

We will ALL have to work outside of our personal comfort boxes.

Whether that involves canvassing, helping like-minded people who haven't been voting in the last few elections to the polls, getting in the face of your Congress people and telling them how much you appreciate / don't appreciate them... It may be uncomfortable for some people here who haven't done that kind of thing, but it's what has to happen. We all have to bring our A game.

I encounter Democrats every day who still think that politics is like a football game, a spectator sport. We just don't want the Republicans to "win". Well, it's not a game, and we need to treat this (and EVERY) election like our very lives depend on the outcome.

Just today there was some guy on MS NBC talking about the upcoming election. He was asked by the talking head if there was a chance that the democrats could take the senate. He said " no because the the GOP had a lot of time rigging the districts to elect republicans that it will be almost impossible for the democrats to win."
