You need to make sure that your kid has an absentee ballot and will be sending it in. You need to do this today. Do it even if it means going onto vote.org and physically filling out the form for your child. You need to know their driver's license number and date of issue to do this.
DO IT. GET THEM REGISTERED. DO IT TODAY.

(5,544 posts)My daughter is 16 and a firebrand and can't wait till she is old enough.
During the whole Parkland gun debate, I made a point that she would be able to vote for the next president. It really caught her off guard because kids don't think that far ahead. She was thrilled.

(5,544 posts)Being opinionated and arguing politics was one of the best things about college. I will never forget voting against Reagan in the first few months of my Freshman year.

(8,379 posts)Very politically active. But on a college campus they are so busy every minute and insulated from world politics, they need the nudge. Trust me!

(15,812 posts)We live in a blue state. Both my kids ended up at college in (separate) red states. They felt that registering there was more beneficial than going the absentee ballot route.

(29,676 posts)We ask if they have a voting plan. We discuss absentee, absentee in person and what to.expect at polling stations. We tell them what to bring ,what to leave at home. We give numbers for rides to the polls and numbers to call if they are turned away.
