'Huge' reaction if GOP rams through Kavanaugh -- Murray, Cantwell

Sexual assault allegations against U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh should be fully investigated, not subjected to a rushed Senate Judiciary Committee hearing and confirmation vote, Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell said on Wednesday.

"It is important for the United States that we have due process," Cantwell said. "We have to get this right." She warned against "putting allegations of sexual assault on a time schedule -- What's the rush?"

"The FBI does this all the time, they should do it now," Murray said.

A "huge" reaction in the country can be expected, Murray argued, if Republicans ram through the nomination without vetting allegations made by Prof. Christine Blasey Ford. There will be "huge repercussions" for senators who go along, Cantwell added.

Either they ram through the most unpopular nominee in history and enrage both Democrats and Independents right before midterms, or they fail, have to retract Kavanaugh, and the Democrats come out as champions and the Republicans looking completely incompetent because they couldn't get their nominee through EVEN WITH Senate control.

The former increases Democratic turnout and turns Independents to the left. The latter suppresses Republican turnout.

and ram this confirmation through ahead of is going to continue to come out.

The fact that getting a person like this on the court is far more important than what America thinks should be a very alarming indicator of intent.

probably all worried about going to jail, and having a very GOP-friendly SCOTUS looks like a good option to them.

Repugs wouldn't care that much because they'd have the presidency and SCOTUS in hand so could continue on with their criminal, treasonous, grifting ways to enrich themselves and the rich and destroy the working class. SCOTUS would cover up everything for them and their funder - PUtin.

Getting five full on fascists on the SC is the super bowl for them.

They can get the country into screwing itself into getting control of the senate/congress again, like they did in 2010.

The stupid is their redo button.

Not just for the attempted rape, but also his perjury in prior hearings. Maybe that should be the plan. trump doesn't deserve 2 SCOTUS seats.

Only one S.Ct. justice has ever been impeached by the House, and he was acquitted by the Senate. That was Samuel Chase in 1805. So, don't hold your breath.

"Huge repercussions" for this...

"They'll be sorry" if that...

"Horrible reaction" when they...

Day after day, more and more, we see the R's do horrible, nasty, repugnant things, and everytime we cry, "the people will rise up and show them!" But, they keep winning, and winning, and people keep voting for them, and they keep holding office, and even gaining ground... election after election.

Yeah yeah... gerymandering, blah blah blah... At this point, with the things they've done, the people should be rising up in such numbers that even gerrymandering cannot save them.

But it does. Time after time.

I'm sorry, I'm doing everything I can, but not nearly as much as I want to... But, until we find a way to de-program the Limbaugh-Fox-zombies en masse, the reality is that is likely going to continue.

They will GLADLY take the trade off of losing the senate this cycle to get five fascists on the SC because the stupid is their safety net - just like 2010.
