Holding her down, covering her mouth, and playing loud music so no one can hear her scream is attempted rape. If he used a weapon or trying to strangle/suffocate her, or if he had help (his friend supposedly in the room), it's First degree attempted rape which carries a possible life sentence.

Otherwise it's 2nd degree attempted rape which is up to 20 years.
