Donny Deutsch Sees Kavanaugh Hearings As 'Metaphor' for GOP: Party of 'Ignorant, White Men'

The nomination for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has slowed considerably now that the sexual assault allegation has been made public by Dr. Christine Ford a week ago. As stories like these inevitably evolve, there are many layers at play. And while justice is what is primarily at hand, so too are the politics of the entire procedure.

Enter Morning Joe contributor Donny Deutsch to put the politics in as bluntly as possible. Regarding the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing, Deutsch said: “you’re seeing on display a metaphor for what this party is which is basically ignorant white men.” Huh.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has offered an additional hearing to look into the eleventh-hour allegation and ongoing discussing between the office of Chair Chuck Grassley and Ford’s lawyers appear to be negotiating the specifics of Ford’s testimony before Senate.

The optics of 11 Republicans — all of whom are older, white men — interrogating a woman claiming to be the victim has been a notable issue for many political experts following this story.
