except for Grassley, Sasse, Tillis, & Flake (on the GOP side), and Feinstein (on the Democratic side), every other member on that committee is a lawyer!

when one particular chair of that committee realizes that the former AG of the largest state in the union is on that committee, then it behooves him, as a slimey GOP lackey, to ensure that her "skills" do not get highlighted in order to overshadow the lack of such by said chair.

...that they fail to view women and persons of color through an equity lens.

Anyway, this has been a key point of negotiations over the last few days. Dr. Ford is insisting that she be questioned only by Senators, which is completely reasonable. To have outside counsel question her would be unprecedented. If they look like the assholes that they are as they interrogate her, that's their problem.
