Ryan is well-liked by blue collar workers in the midwest.

I heard this statement on my local news yesterday, then again by someone on NBC. Well-liked? I see no evidence of that; and the blue collar part is mystifying to me.

This is what the GOP does though; keep saying it over and over; trying to establish Ryan as the candidate for blue collar workers, since there's no way Romney can be portrayed that way. Ryan is the guy who was raised in a middle class family in Wisconsin. Champion for the common folk!!

Ironic isn't it? Blue collar workers are the group that Romney/Ryan will hurt the most if they have the chance.

24/7 ranting of the Murdock Gang has impact. Expecially since liberal medial has been killed in this area.

Because I really don't see how framing Ryan like that will help with moderates and independents.

BTW - love your graphic!

Ryan did NOT grow up poor or even middle class!

He may not be on the level of Rmoney but he and especially his wife, grew up privileged with big bucks.

Rove was successful at portraying Bush as an ordinary guy, you know, "someone you'd want to have a beer with". A good ol' boy Texas cowboy (even though he's terrified of horses).

It worked with him, they're hoping it works with Ryan too.

I heard I think Rachel Maddow talk about a poll where even in his district, people were surprised when informed about his budget's effect on Medicare.

I think the Obama campaign will do a good job of educating people about Ryan. Swing-state voters will learn the most.

Yesterday they were interviewing people going to Saturday evening mass at Ryan's church... and they were all positive. I guess those are the blue collar workers they are talking about.

Ryan is a throwback; he could easily have been a conservative politician in the era before cable news. He has risen to national stardom by taking the path least traveled by modern politicians: He knows a lot of stuff.
...

One day as a 16 year old, Ryan came upon the lifeless body of his father. Paul Ryan, Sr. had died of a heart attack at age 55, leaving the Janesville Craig High School 10th grader, his three older brothers and sisters and his mother alone. It was Paul who told the family of his father’s death.

With his father’s passing, young Paul collected Social Security benefits until age 18, which he put away for college. To make ends meet, Paul’s mother returned to school to study interior design. His siblings were off at college. Ryan remembers this difficult time bringing him and his mother closer.
