He'll have others make up stuff to use to criminalize him with it, just like putin does to his opposition in russia with his kangaroo courts he's made there. With trump he doesn't have to have facts and the truth, he wants to be able to do this to anyone he wants at will like putin does. That's why he attacks the justice system and the DOJ , he wants it corrupted to protect himself with .

They founders didn't want bullshit treason charges being made so they defined this crime clearly. One of the only/few they do that for.

Why would Rosenstein suddenly resign unless Trump/Kelley threatened to go after him criminally?

Up to this point, Rosenstein was sticking with the job, but we are going banana republic big time.

that could be brought against him. If he resigns it's because he knows he can't prevent being fired anyhow.

If he resigned, he can be replaced by the Vacancies Act which, as I understand it, allows Trump to replace Rod with ANY Senate confirmation level member of the Executive Branch. I'm not sure if it's true but I recall someone speculating that Trump could pull some undersecretary of HUD and plop him in the job. I believe it was Tribe who confirmed that.

If he is fired, Trump doesn't have that latitude and the standard DoJ chain of command kicks in - the job goes to the Solicitor General.

Not a lawyer but that's the way I've understood this fire/resign issue for a while.

Would love to be corrected.

We are certainly in land.

Trump is apparently trying to disguise a firing; Rosenstein says he refuses to resign, per Pete Williams.

It is cute that we think that Republicans will peacefully permit the transfer of power.

"Fired" vs. "resigned" MATTERS.

Why? Federal Vacancies Reform Act gives Trump power to appoint an Acting AG if it's a resignation.

If he's fired? It's murkier.https://t.co/FQG5jXjpFU https://t.co/hazvCO8cg9

they have on him. If Trump is stupid enough (and he is) to take Rosenstein and the FBI, the defense strategy will open up the whole can of worms that Trump is so frantically trying to quash.

.

It doesn't matter what he promises Rosenstein, Trump will try to find a way to charge him, even if it's Trump-ed up.
