Lindsey Graham is a big-shot Senator, and before that, he was a big-shot congressman (he was on the House Impeachment Team that presented the case against Bill Clinton to the Senate). He's got money, power, perks, and a guaranteed pension if things go horribly, irrevocably wrong.

What's that? His place in history could be at risk, too?

Goodness! With all those considerations, it's no wonder that if he's being blackmailed, Sen. Graham would have lots of reasons not to go public. He is, after all, just a United States Senator. Taking gambles on your life and livelihood is really more for vulnerable people going up against far richer and more powerful people. You can't expect Sen. Graham to have the courage to risk his career.

Instead of being a "confirmed straight bachelor," like he's been claiming all these decades, all he has to say is, "hell, even if I were gay, the Supreme Court has ruled that I can marry any man I want to, so what's the big deal?"

The more he denies it, the worse he'll look when it's made public. What's shameful is the hypocritical denial, not whether he's gay or not. Only the televangelists care about that these days, and only on Sunday mornings when they're trying their weekly fleece of the ignorant. So, at the end of the day, he should say, "I'll tell y'all what difference it makes: not a bit!" Hell, he'll even get a few more votes in SC, namely from SC Log Cabin Republicans, who can suddenly champion him in public.
