(6,831 posts)embargoed 90% of Kavanaugh's file.
Which means that he - and Bitch McConnell - knew ALL ALONG who and what Kavanaugh is. They are complicit up to their eye sockets in this and must be held accountable.
WE HAVE GOT TO STOP PUSSY-FOOTING AROUND AND GET SERIOUS ABOUT HOLDING PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE.

(2,187 posts)I agree ! This can't be dropped. And hey, maybe this will male our fondest wish come true- the arrest and imprisonment of McConnell. Please let it be so.

(10,833 posts)If any of these men knew the dirt was out there and pushed this nominee anyway? They need to resign. It would certainly explain why Kavanaugh's confirmation was being jammed through--they all knew and wanted him confirmed before anyone found out.
The whole thing is disgusting, particularly by a group of men who wish to deny women agency over their own bodies and reproductive health. And now we're suppose to pretend that these alleged accusations are 'frivolous, mere fantasy, the product of mixed-up women?"
May they all rot in hell for this!

(51,574 posts)For example, Anthony Kennedy was asked if he shoplifted as a kid, and whether he ever had "kinky sex":
Justice Anthony Kennedy sat through 10-plus hours of FBI interviews and a three-hour session with the attorney general and White House counsel in which all "conceivable no-holds-barred questions were asked," according to a memorandum archived in the Reagan Library.
Among the questions Kennedy was asked: Have you ever engaged in kinky sex? Did you shoplift as a kid? What about any associations with groups like the Klu Klux Klan? Ever abuse a girlfriend? Engage in cruelty to animals? And tell us about sex in college: How often, how many women, and did you ever contract a venereal disease?

(16,082 posts)I believe that Wray assigned this to agents that the White House picked...in other words it appears that the fix was in from the beginning!!!
Just a theory, because good investigators don't miss this kind of history, unless they were told what to investigate and what to ignore!!!

(51,574 posts)Ok, I can understand how they might have missed this on the first go round. The FBI missed it with Clarence Thomas as well. But for the White House to refuse to request that the FBI reopen the background check after the allegations surfaced is truly unprecedented and appalling. And for the Senate to refuse to call any witnesses, other than the victim herself, amounts to a GOP coverup.

(6,831 posts)everything Anita Hill claimed he did. And more. David Brock wrote a great book, "Blinded By the Right," in which he discusses this in exquisite detail. He had carried water for the RNC on Thomas and was horrified when he discovered that they had lied to him all along. It was no less than Theodore Olsen who told Brock "of course, it's true." And that he (and others) knew it to be true yet refused to reveal the facts because they wanted Thomas on the Court as a rubber stamp.
So republicans lying their asses off and doing whatever it takes to pack the Court with their corrupt cronies is not news.

(17 posts)Background checks include questions on good character, etc. But unless you were tipped, and assuming the candidate lied, then things that would make you subject to blackmail like sexual assaults including gang rapes would not be asked about -- shows a real flaw in the system...
FYI, I've been interviewed as a reference for people getting security clearances.

if McConnell, Grassley and others were involved in the cover-up, they should be forced to resign as well.

(75 posts)Did Kavanaugh ask any of his friends to lie to him while they were questioned by the FBI as part of his background checks? I had very high security clearances for a former government position, and the FBI actually came to my hometown and talked to neighbors, etc. It never occurred to me to tell anyone how to respond. I merely told my old neighbors that I had applied for a high-security position, and the FBI might well be visiting them soon. They said, " they've already been here!", and I just laughed, marveling at the efficiency of the organization I hold in such high regard. I do not know the level of security clearance that a federal judge must possess, but would think it should be substantial. After all, as part of their position they may have to review confidential government documents and, as I did, they have to take an oath of office. Kavanaugh strikes me as easily blackmailable and a high security risk for many reasons.

(2,771 posts)Kavanaugh is not polling well. Rachel had numbers from Fox, if memory serves, and they were staggeringly bad. Obama won two elections decisively but his SC nominee was blocked. Garland was OUR nominee. Not only were we denied Merrick, Kavanaugh is being crammed down our collective throats for reasons I cannot fully understand without factoring in massive corruption. Im all in for voting and doing everything possible to help others vote in November. Ive been feeling for a few days we need something sooner and dramatic. Protests? Demonstrations?

Though for federal judges, maybe it can involve high school, but you might have to talk to every student to get this kind of information.

(22,822 posts)These goons have hijacked our democracy and we need to take it back. Yes, there is a vast left wing conspiracy! It is a conspiracy to restore constitutional protections, and checks and balances. It is a conspiracy to turn the government around and start serving the people rather than the wealthy and their corporations. It is a conspiracy to kick corrupt Republican traitors out of office and pay for their crimes against our nation.

They knew more was coming in regard to Kavanaugh.
Whether they told Grassley or other GOP committee members is not known as everyone asked pleads innocence.

I should think that alone is enough to disqualify Kav. Apparently Trump got him to promise, if Kav becomes Justice, not to indict him if Mueller's investigations turn up criminal offenses.

(328 posts)Perhaps sex assaults are easier for people to understand, and get more attention right now. If he is confirmed, I certainly hope that they continue to investigate his finances. It is probably at lot easier to track the money than to prove assaults that happened so many years ago. If there are bribes or other financial misbehaviors that might be his un-doing, even if he has been confirmed.
