If Kavenaugh has a calendar from 1982...

...the Democrats on the committee should ask him about it.
Does he have one from 1980 through 1985? How about 1990?
When did you start keeping a calendar? Do you still keep one?
How many have you kept? Can we see them? Why have you kept
them all these years? Maybe it's legitimate and he really does
this, but it will make him look like an anal retentive loon.

When I could, in high school, I used to write down all the beer parties. It's funny how many didn't happen. I wonder why?

Many people who may plan on writing a memoir later on would be well-served by keeping such things.

Of all the things wrong with Kavanaugh, this isn't one.

They used to be quite common. You used them to keep track of everything from social calendars to academic activities. Many schools had pre-printed ones that already listed key dates and activities of the school. Not every beer party would be listed, but it might include ones long planned, mostly ones surrounding holidays and breaks.

It'd be only slightly weird to save them. I didn't, but it wouldn't be freakishly odd to store them along with a yearbook or something. Today, this would be done on some calendar type function on a smart phone. Those may last a long time and could provide interesting fodder in the future.

Then yes - would be likely to be saved.

However, what would be saved there would be school sponsored events and maybe some personal days such as birthdays and the like.

However, if it was like my High School, these things were ad-hoc with only a few days notice. "Hey, Friday night - Joe's parents are out". Then there would be a small collection for a keg or three and a few would bring a few bottles of harder stuff.

the party is unlikely to be noted, unless there was a reason it was planned in advance (let's be honest, to a 17 year old,"advanced" might mean a week or two). Of course "my parents go to Jamaica every year at that time" often can be the "special event".

Evidently some private schools push the used of personal calendars to record when papers are due, school events and the like. But as most teenage parties, particularly male parties, are spur of the moment, doubt he recorded Sam's House, Keg Party, going to get drunk.
Or for that matter when he got home" Great party, drank myself senseless once more. Felt up (girl's name) and had sex with her against her will."
