Just was able to tune into Kavanawful's opening statement. It's the Checkers speech all over again!!
It's not over yet.
Mowing the lawn, high school sports, tears, this guy must have watched Nixon's "Checkers" speech about ten times. The "65" women letter, for Pete's sake! Then a letter from 84 women in the Bush White House. Bashing Democrats in his opening statement, how blatantly partisan can you get? And this guy is supposed to sit on OUR Supreme Court?
One thing someone forget to tell him: this is NOT 1952.
"I was at a Catholic Jesuit school." As if that is some kind of prestige reference. His angry tone, mixed with sniffles--can you imagine this guy deciding death penalty cases and Roe v. Wade's repeal? His claim to legitimacy seems to be how many women he hired ("that is who I am" ), obviously gliding by claims that he looked for a certain kind of woman. And now, he's whining that he may not be able to teach or coach again.
The Republicans will sit there, nodding and clutching at their hankies, but I don't buy this for a second, and I hope a majority of Senators have similar sentiments. He thanks Trump for Trump's "steadfast support." That alone should be reason to reject him.
(I haven't forgotten that Eisenhower decided to keep Nixon after the Checkers speech)
