"NBC News incorrectly reported (as usual) that I was limiting the FBI investigation of Judge Kavanaugh, and witnesses, only to certain people. Actually, I want them to interview whoever they deem appropriate, at their discretion. Please correct your reporting!"

(9,874 posts)Maybe it has something to do with the timing of the events and they look for common witnesses by investigating the first one in time before moving on to the second.

(9,874 posts)and it may be so. So even if Trump did limit the investigation, maybe now that he's been caught he will back off and let them do everything they were supposed to do. I think we'll find out soon enough from Avenatti.

The only person who I would to hear from about the truth or falsity of reports about this letter McGahn supposedly sent outlining the "allowed" investigation parameters is Director Wray. And at that, under oath.

(46 posts)It just means that their blunt way of rigging it wasn't going to work. You want to rig the investigation without it being 100% obvious that it was rigged.
They want an investigation with at last plausible credibility.
So they'll rig it in more subtle ways.

(1,975 posts)Maybe if you are implying that the agents do their job and then it is buried by politicians.
If not, you basically are saying what Trump says, that the FBI is not credible. If more people keep believing that, then we might as well just burn the Constitution and get on with the Civil War. Eroding the public trust in the core foundation of our government is Trump's ploy, don't fall for his rhetoric.

(46 posts)While I believe the field agents will try to be professional and nonpartisan, it doesn't take many people to rig it. It just takes a few key Trumpist FBI bureaucrats in the chain of command to subtly sabotage the work in Kavanaugh's favor. And I believe Director Wray can "editorialize" the final report in a biased way as well.

(1,975 posts)If its gonna be rigged, it'll be done by some bureaucratic stooge. Not the men and women field agents, that do the grunt work. I would also venture a guess that somebody would have the foresight to make a copy of the findings before it got turned in for assessment.
