https://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2018/09/kent_state_university_gun_walk.htmlKENT, Ohio -- Gun-rights activists led by Kent State University graduate Kaitlin Bennett marched on the KSU campus Saturday afternoon, openly carrying a variety of weapons and creating a tense stand-off with angry counter-protestors.
Hundreds of police officers from all over the state were deployed to keep the peace, lining up in riot gear to physically keep the two groups apart.
No serious injuries were reported, according to the university, although one man seemed to be knocked unconscious and a protestor had an abrasion on his forehead.
There were four arrests. All were charged with disorderly conduct, with one additionally charged with assault on a police officer.

... Counter-protestors significantly outnumbered her group of gun-rights activists ...
The two sides screamed insults at each other as police stood as a wall between them, gradually prompting the gun-rights activists to return to a parking lot across the street.
The flood of counter-protestors led to the gun-rights group marching for less than 30 minutes, spending the rest of the time surrounded by police ...

... Bennett's pro-gun friends of about a hundred were met with triple or even quadruple that number of counter-protestors ...
Despite Bennet saying her principal mission for the march was to demand guns be allowed on campus, the University says she's never actually asked them.
"It's important to note that at no time, has Ms. Bennett while she was a student here or since or any student group, ever petitioned the University formally asking us to change our policy," said Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Shay Little.

... Bennett last week told a Beacon Journal reporter that ... If students and protesters would have had firearms, the shootings would have never happened, she said.
Alan Canfora, one of the nine shot in 1970, said Bennett has it backward.
The primary lesson of the 1970 Kent State tragedy is nonviolent conflict resolution should be maximized to prevent bloodshed, he said.
Its outrageous for her to mention the Kent State massacre, Canfora said, while she now seems to advocate armed confrontations on campuses especially at Kent State where tragedy resulted from gun violence now opposed by the vast majority of citizens ...
