Something that really stood out to me during Kavanaugh's testimony this week was the

facial expressions of the Republican men.

Kavanaugh's opening statement was a study in rage, indignation and raw anger. The emotions he displayed were intense and, at times, unsettling and unnerving.

When the male Republican Senators began their speeches in defense of Kavanaugh (you can't even pretend that they questioned him), they were absolutely snarling.

I kept thinking that if a woman had behaved like this in a similar setting she would have been considered to be hysterical and none of her testimony would have been taken seriously.

Oh, I have them, too Ladies and Gents, but they are based on my common sense above all. I do not let hate and fear rule me.

That is why I despise Trump and the Republicans, because I remember when they had good Leaders like Dwight Eisenhower but the party has gone downhill ever since starting with Nixon.

I think that they committed a huge mistake, just before the 2018 midterms. Doing this on TV especially. The ugliness I saw on display and thrown out there by the repug senators and Kav will never go away.

Why are we surprised? A rhetorical statement, but w/ the age of rump, this behavior is acceptable by their standards. Lash out at those who threaten them, regardless if you're guilty.

Look at rump, our disgusting so called president. A military school / prep school bully, accused 16 times. 16. This number is burned into my conscience. A sad pathetic, sexual predator no less.

You're right, a woman would have been branded hysterical. A sad commentary on our times that I thought was changing. I think the only way this will change is get rid of ALL of the old generation senators who feel like they are entitled, spoiled, and thus dangerous. We all know who these people are.

Take care, Arkansas Granny!

The thinly disguised disbelief seemed to be the dominant one. It contrasted sharply afterwards with the explosive anger of the Republicans much of which can be safely described as being directed at women. They seemed ignorant of the fact that all their mothers are women that they claim to respect.

In all their glory, a whole group of them in one place for all of us to see during these hearings.

Such snarling, spittle-flecked, fist-pounding, teary-eyed "I'm SUCH a victim!" hysteria is ONLY reserved for (white) conservative MEN.

THIS enraged fear at losing their place as America's #1 democraphic is one of the primary substances that Trump rode into office upon. (racism, sexism)

Any women behaving that way would be slapped into a straightjacket and escorted directly to the nearest insane asylum (or drunk tank/rehab center) by security and the over-ruling Patriarchy within 10 minutes. BUT - IOIYAR + WM (It's OK if you're a Republican + white male)

They're having a RAGING testosterone-fueled HISSY-FIT because America - and especially America's women - are not doing what they want - not allowing who they want to be easily shoved into one of the most powerful positions in the country - just because the AWM contingent SAID so and historically, what the AWM contingent said they wanted done got DONE.

We're supposed to SIT DOWN, SHUT UP and OBEY like good little "minorities" (even though non-male + non-whites are not a minority in this country)

Analyzing the psychology of Kavanaugh (and Trump, Hatch, Grassley, etc.)
could take days. But the reaction by him is directly out of the abuser playbook.

Put the focus on the accuser.
Portray yourself as a victim (boo-hoo and tear up whenever you can)
Portray your accuser as a liar who is destroying your great reputation.
Be over-the-top enraged and indignant. The louder you protest, the more innocent you are.
Accuse the accuser of exaggerating, being crazy, vindictive, slutty, drunk, etc.
Excuse your own behavior.
Lie, lie, lie and lie some more -- right to the very end.
