Saw something yesterday about Dr. Ford / Kavanaugh which made me sick, because it seems true...

I think it was on twitter, but I don't recall the author or the exact wording:

All across America there are 15 year old girls listening to their parents rant about Kavanaugh and realizing that if/when they are sexually assaulted, they have nowhere to go and no one to turn to.

----------------

We all must do everything we can to reverse this.

My dad thought I should be flattered.
The guys wife believed me because it wasn't the first time. The guy was my boss and a good 10 years older than my dad.

So it doesn't have to be this way!
If women and decent men, the men who support women, vote on this issue, we can see major changes.

aid and abet. Women like Yale law prof Amy Chua (the tiger mom), who students have said groomed the goodlooking ones to apply for clerkships with Kavanaugh.
(Chua, of course, denies this.)

Women like the Susan Collinses and Lisa Murkowskis, who talk a good game about women's rights, but then vote to aid the patriarchy.

The assault happened but wingers are trying their damnest to shut these women down and demand it didn't happen.

The problem with the right-wing voters is that their authoritarian masters have told them that it didn't happen and they're hardwired to not think for themselves.

Carry those registratioin forms with you everywhere. MM suggested we carry one in our purse, briefcase, bag, whatever. Always have one. You'll register a random person daily. I promise.

That was my best friend, who could do nothing to help me. 16-year-olds can't do much except listen.

My parents were angry because they thought I was just trying to get attention. He was a close family friend, and my dad looked up to him. In a fucked-up way, maybe he was kind of proud that a man he respected took an "interest" in me. I'm not making this up. Like I somehow should have been pleased that this man had favored me.

Now they are all dead, except for me. 40 years on, I remember the month and the day, and what he was wearing. And how I hated myself for whatever I'd done to make that thing happen. Existing while female, I guess.

I'm sure he went on to hurt others. His wife divorced him. When I found out he'd died, I felt relief.
