(82,849 posts)I don't know who's running for every office in the country, and it's really helpful to have the candidates' party affiliation in the subject line of the post.

There hasn't been a Democratic governor in 20 years. We have been swept in all the statewide races several times during midterms.
I lived in Las Vegas/Henderson for 24 years. Since 2006 the trend is much more favorable, with sophisticated emphasis on registering and turnout out Clark County, which holds the majority of the votes. Early voting is exceptionally available and easy. Democrats are fielding far superior candidates in race after race than a decade or more ago.
But let's not pretend the state is a certainty, especially in a midterm, where the cow counties always turn out dependably. It is extraordinarily difficult to oust an incumbent.
I'll be thrilled if we get rid of Dean Heller because I was still living in Las Vegas when he showed up on the statewide scene. Frankly I thought we would never defeat him. He looks like just the type who could fool Nevada voters for decades.
