Realistically, what happens next if Boofanaugh withdraws?

My thought is he's got backups.

His first choice will be Amy Coney Barrett...who's about six notches to the right of Benito Mussolini, wants to overturn Obergefell, Roe and Griswold, and the Religious Right likes her a lot, but who isn't too likely to eradicate the Separate Sovereigns doctrine.

If Barrett falls through for whatever reason - like that he can't stand the thought of putting someone on the Supreme Court who might put him in prison - Jay Sekulow is always available.

1. Probably nominate someone even further right of Kavanaugh, but less controversial.

And try to push them though as fast as possible before midterms to minimize the damage to the base of not getting Kavanaugh through.

Even if he reveals something that forces Donnie to resign, pence can immediately nominate some other right-wing *sshole to the court. Only real difference would be that one would also be a religious nut.

4. My dream is that Dems stall, stall, stall on any tRump nominee

until year 3 (should we get that far) of tRump's presidency, and then invoke the same principle used to negate President Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland...no action taken during the final year of term.

6. We should block all nominees, even if pence gets a chance.

He's no more legitimate than Donnie, and we still need to get our tit for tat against mcturtle.

They will need a new FBI investigation, as all investigations done pre-K are now rendered obsolete. Any such investigation will take weeks. Ramming, or even attempting to ram another prospect before the mid-terms will also not be received well.

Cheetolini demanded Kavanaugh despite the Turtle's "he would be my last choice" admonition. He showed himself to be another angry man who seems to feel entitled regardless of who he hurts along the way and now us wimmens have our hackles up. Any future GOP SC prospects are going to be picked over with a fine toothed comb.

The GOP is now in a "Loss - BigLoss" situation. Serves 'em right. Like 21st century Amricans are going to let russia buy our government, or stand by while the GOP passes laws exonerating themselves, or let the USA suffer a coup and turn into a "christian nation". As if! What chumps.

Just goes ta show ya that all those filthy rich 1% GOP donors are completely outta touch.

I don't know why. I mean, they were okay with Kav, who also was going to overturn Roe.

Maybe it's just that Kav was willing to lie and say maybe he wouldn't, and they were happy to be lied to.

A really nasty piece of work for sane decisions of any sort. I think she was McConnell's favorite.

But a woman for sure IMO.

It’ll only be for 2 years, but that may be more than enough time to save Trump’s ass. And make no mistake - that is all he cares about.

16. Why Recess appointment? Why not just confirm backup in lame duck congress?

The rush to appoint before the midterms has me confused. Even if Dems were able to win more seats in Senate, why not just hold confirmation hearings in mid November-early December before they are seated?
