(22,671 posts)Sad, but true.
Sad but true. The hate on women is becoming unbearable. VAWA expired last night. Not sure in this environment it will pass again. Read tonight that Brett boy is against it as well.

(33,403 posts)I wonder what kind of answers from GOPers the following would get:
Your mother / daughter / wife / sister has been sexually assaulted by a gang of drunken teenage boys. Do you want Brett Kavanaugh deciding the case?

(83,872 posts)I have asked that question before.

(33,403 posts)Too many of those were demonstrated during the Judiciary Committee "hearing".

(83,872 posts)And the new news we are hearing now feels like a gut punch. I just don't know what upsets me more. The fact he did this and more, and I know for a fact he did. Or the fact that the GOP is fully aware and wants to shove that fugging pervert through at all cost. They know it is true and do not give one damn. They hate women that much.

(33,403 posts)Just limiting it to the one marathon day of contrast -- Dr. Ford's gut-wrenching but self-controlled testimony versus Krazy Kavanaugh and the Misogynists -- it still demonstrates your points.
About a week ago, I tried to get a trumper to enumerate why he was so against Hillary. He was shocked and exclaimed, "We don't need a woman running the United States!" That's time-warp crazy, to me. We are facing a cult.

(33,403 posts)I might understand if it was somebody who came of age in the early 60s *and* was semi-literate, but this guy is mid-30s, married with 2 children, his wife works in dentistry, and he is an independent sub-contractor in construction. His response seemed pre-WWII, to me.
I stammered a bit, pointed out that a president does NOT "run" the country, and asked him to be specific about why he didn't like Hillary. His first point was, "She's crooked." I stopped him with, "That's not specific. How, specifically, is she supposed to be 'crooked'?" He didn't get a chance to answer (if he had an answer) as we had to get back to work, helping his father with some critical farm work that had to be done before the rain from Florence reached us.
The cult of disinformation has created a mindset that is dangerous to us all. We need to figure out how to undo that damage.

(83,872 posts)You did good. Not sure how we will correct the disinformation.
I hope you were safe during Florence.

(33,403 posts)I'm a long way from Florence. We got almost 6 inches of rain in a few days; biggest threat was flash flooding in some areas.
Among the 8 people working to help my neighbor with the weather-critical bit of farm work, 2 of us were straight-Democrat voters. All are, or were, married. All are decent, reasonable people, except where politics is concerned. These trumpers' attitudes regarding TrumPutin and GOP policies are at shocking odds with their personal actions. Logic and facts don't seem to make a dent in the shield put in their heads by Fox.
