Very anecdotal. But hopeful. I just drove through Highland Park, TX

Last edited Tue Oct 2, 2018, 02:25 PM - Edit history (1)

Only saw 1 Ted Cruz sign.
Saw assorted republican signs...namely Pete Sessions.
But I saw a bunch of Beto signs!
This is amazing in Highland Park.

There are Highland Parks in many states and cities. Please be more specific. We don't know which one you mean. The one in St. Paul, MN?

I don't care, really. But if getting people to click a post, information helps.

Maybe he did it and I did not notice, but not once did he mention Cruz' name. It was all about policy.

cause it allows Beto to not have to outright brag about visiting every county.

That said, Cruz, of course had a comeback ready. "Been in Washington where it matters - to help TX." and Beto's visits were "photo ops"

Surprised Beto didn't anticipate that.

Of course, we're very blue around here, but only when you get into the tonier neighborhoods do you see a Cruz sign now and then. The Cruz campaign didn't think it was necessary to spend $ on yard signs and when the BETO signs started to blanket Texas they finally decided they'd better fork out for signs. But still you don't see that many.

Told me he's seeing a lot more Beto signs than Cruz. That county went twitler by almost 20 points he said.

Not sure if the Rafael Cruz voters are simply too embarrassed to reveal themselves as Rafael Cruz supporters this time around yet will no doubt vote for him.

I was out the other night with a physician and another nurse—both of whom live in Highland Park. The nurse started talking politics and made a snide remark about Beto. We were in an upscale restaurant and it wasn’t the place. Neither of us said anything and she looked at us incredulously and said “you aren’t for Beto are you??”
We looked at each other and high fived each other.
Was a tad awkward I think....for her. Lol

Highland Park sits right next to the Oak Lawn neighborhood. In the 80s, drunk frat boys like Brett K. used to come over to Oak Lawn and beat up gay men for shits and giggles.

But you could always spot them on Cedar Springs Rd or lurking on the side streets. They sorta stuck out like petunias in an onion patch.
But......Highland Park was a great neighborhood to jog through. Beautiful houses and streets.

and I was amazed. course, friendly audience who cheered every word.

That said, if you drive through a rural town - Cruz rules.

So, same as with Obama - gets the cities but not the country places. Perhaps his travels helped enough to push him over. He said he went to places where they said NO ONE has ever come here.

in a northeast Houston area, I've seen one Cruz sign. It's at a bbq restaurant that always plasters itself with repuke signs. I've seen a hell of a lot more Beto signs than i would have imagined. It's great to see, even though i don't think Beto will win. We're still at least 10 years away, due mainly to the fact that no one votes in Texas.
