DU used to have numerous posters who encouraged "dialog" with Trump supporters.

Some of us who daily encounter the ignorance, the threats and the outright insanity of these moral pygmies responded to the well-meaning but woefully ignorant "treat them with respect" advocates with examples of our own face-to-face encounters. I can now offer a fresher example of aTrumpie: Brett "Bart" Kavanaugh.

Recall his obvious disgust for Democrats, the Clinton's, and those dissatisfied with the 2016 election when he last addressed the Senate.

Picture his face contorted by his barely controlled rage at the very audacity of those who questioned him.

Admit that if you were hearing this spew from him in a bar or even a mall parking lot, you'd be wondering if he was about to "get physical"with you.

Now, imagine "Bart" as a tattooed high school dropout with green teeth and breath that drops birds in flight. Also, assume that the most often used words in this Bart's half of your "dialog" will be "libtard", "snowflake" and "motherfucker".

THAT is what "out" liberals in flyover country must be prepared to deal with any time we venture out of our homes. Thankfully, most of the criticism of how we cope has ceased.

I was wrong to believe Trump supporters could be reached, and I've said so. Some posters here are very quick on the "troll" trigger when someone disagrees with the more popular opinions, and I think that's deplorable.

Trump is no longer a candidate making empty promises, he's fucking President and his agenda is clear as glass to anyone not fully brainwashed or a racist pig. Some less crazed Trump voters have already turned against him, but unfortunately they represent a small minority. I can find time to speak to that small group but anyone still supporting Trump is futile to waste any breath on now.

Don't talk about "all Trump voters."

Don't talk about "all Republicans."

Do, by all means, castigate up the wazoo "all people who support Kavanaugh's behavior in the hearing."

More than 60 million people voted for Trump. It's absurd to say "Oh, they're all racists" or whatever other dismissive insult you like. Some of them are deplorables, some of them may even have green teeth, but "some of them are unreachable" doesn't equate to "all of them are unreachable."

Note that I used the phrase "Trump voters" rather than "Trump supporters". There are plenty of people who voted for Trump but who never really supported him. They were faced with a choice between two major-party candidates who, among those in the era of modern polling, both had record high unfavorable ratings. You can't call a person a "Trump supporter" if he or she has always disliked Trump but simply disliked Clinton more.

Some of the Trump voters are ardent Trump supporters and there's no point to a dialog with them. But a strategy for 2020 that starts by spotting the GOP all the Trump voters is doomed to failure.

think by bullying us and being loudmouths does the trick. It doesn't. And it's pathetic. They are falling for rumps' game again and again.

These loudmouths think they win their arguments by being louder then the other person. They rudely interrupt everyone in their attempts to speak out, and think that they won the argument. Sadly, the issue(s) being debated and acted upon didn't get any play at all, and won't be solved in this manner. The only concrete things I see rump and cronies doing so far is (1) Giant tax cut for the 1%ers and (2) Trying to take away our health care, repeatedly.

Maybe they'll learn one day, but probably won't. That's okay. It'll all come back to bite them in the behind, and revenge will be sweet when served with the cold hard reality that rump is a crook and sexual predator, and doesn't give a hoot about any of us unless we happen to have a billion dollars laying around so he can try to steal it.

Dialog is possible with FORMER Trump supporters. Anyone who still finds reason to support him now will be as easy to engage in rational discussion as a brick wall.

I tried talking to a Trumper one day, he was only interested in spewing conspiracies that were clear lies. I corrected him a couple times with facts, I just might as well had tossed water on a duck's back, nothing registered, he was so loaded up with bullshit. I no longer waste my time.

I don't waste time with people who support him, and no one here should.

I have said often that to have voted for trump in 2016, you either have to be very stupid, or an asshole. There is no in between. A vote for trump means you fell into one of those two categories (actually, many fall into BOTH categories, but it's still a Venn diagram no matter how much overlap it reveals.

If you were merely stupid, but have seen the error of your ways and tried to educate yourself, or at least have begun to see what a fraudulent piece of shit he is and can now recognize that he is attempting to destroy this country, then I can have a conversation with you and hope to assist you in becoming less stupid in the future.

If you're an asshole, I going to have little patience for you.
