Possible way to opt out of "Government Alerts" (Shitler text)?

On Iphone, go to "Settings".

Then "Notifications".

Scroll to the bottom. There are 2 settings for "Government Alerts": Amber and Emergency.

I turned both off. We'll see what happens. I will have to remember to turn them back on though.

1. Android Samsung won't let me opt out. Can I pull the battery for an hour?

Will the alert still show up when the battery is reinstalled?

I think of all the cell phones in elementary, middle school, high school & college classrooms that will all be beeping at random over the course of one hour across the entire US.
"Message from The President"

This is fked up.

6. That is messed up. 2006 ruling said people have the right to opt out unless its a message direct

from the President.
What we are being told is that this is a message from FEMA. Has nothing to do with Trump. That he's not ordering it specifically.
Yet because they use the wording "President" in the text, we are then prevented from opting out.

Govt says its from FEMA, Not the President.

Sort of a round about way of mandating the message that we are supposed to have the right to not be part of.

I'm taking the damn battery out for an hr.
Will let you know if the Presidential Message which is not actually from the President but from FEMA, shows up when I put the battery back in.

Trickery around every corner with Trumpsters at the wheel.

I don't trust any of them.
Feels like a head-pat.

November election better damn well work in our favor.
Knowing Trump, our personal phone data will be treated the same way Russia/Cambridge A treated Facebook data in 2016.
Grrrrr

Appears it worked.
However next time we won't be told ahead of time.

How'd you do? Was it enough just to turn your phone off & for the hour?

Been discussed to death - virtually all carriers are cooperating, and presidential alerts are not covered by either of the alerts you have the ability to opt out of.

I'm turning my phone off - but I suspect it will still appear when I turn my phone back on later today.
