Turned the notifications on a few minutes ago. Still no message from the TRAITOR.
I can't believe it worked!

(14,628 posts)On Iphone, go to "Settings".
Then "Notifications".
Scroll to the bottom. There are 2 settings for "Government Alerts": Amber and Emergency.
Turn both off.

(94,727 posts)I guess the advantage is that if I have to evacuate, there'll be less traffic on the roads...

(129,440 posts)e.g., weather alerts? If not, it could be your provider isn't sending any.

(129,440 posts)I don't think that would qualify for using the EAS.
Are your messages "texts"? If so, then those aren't the same although they might convey the identical message. I know I am subbed to my local "ReadyPhiladelphia" service which will send out actual text messages of the alerts but the real EAS alerts are not really "text" messages. They are just a pop-up window on the phone that comes with a tone and you have to manually "dismiss" it.

(13,783 posts)... was FEMA's ability to alert the nation in case of a huge crisis. The plan was tarted under Bush, developed under Obama and is now being tested. "The President" is probably better understood than FEMA.

(36,223 posts)Hard to say if you were one of the ones who did not get it or not. Or if something you did prevented it.

(9,696 posts)I turned off and on my cell phones and there was a text message. Once phone is ok, the other one everytime I turn it on the alert makes that same horrific sound...even though all my sounds are turned off.

(5,811 posts)Here's what happened. All govt alerts were turned off about three weeks ago. My cell was off from about 8am PT and turned on at 11:17am which was after the PA was sent. When I turned my cell back on the alert flashed and then disappeared.
