way back in the 1970s, when the voting age was lowered to 18, that I should never vote for a Republican. After this week's party-before-country shenanigans, and McConnell's general winning-is-everything attitude I am retaking the pledge to never vote for any Republicans. Period.

(2,533 posts)It was the 1st time I was asking her about voting. I had always voted but thought I could choose by candidate & not party....
Those were simpler times.
Nowadays it is litter ally insane to vote for any Repuke. That was supposed to be litterally but litter alley works-spell check fail.

(1,266 posts)Somewhere around 2000 I decided I was never again going to vote for a repub candidate against a Democratic candidate. In more recent years I've decided that I wasn't ever going to vote for a repub, period, even if they have no Democratic opponent on a general election ballot. I will leave the ballot blank for that race rather than vote for the repub.
Individual repub candidates may sometimes seem from afar to be nice people, but there's something wrong with them if they want to be a part of such a vile party, and I refuse to enable them with my vote.
